The Vintage Atlanta Women’s Basketball Sports T-Shirt combines Atlanta patriotism, women’s basketball culture and the look of an old school university athletics tee. The big distressed red “ATLANTA” text immediately pops against the black background, while the central crest has a basketball, flames, laurel branches, stars and a large “A.” A ribbon below concludes the design with “BASKETBALL.”
Another detail that counts: “20” and “08” are on either side of the crest, creating 2008. It’s not just any random vintage date. The Atlanta Dream started playing in the WNBA in 2008, so the artwork is quite indicative of the Atlanta women’s professional basketball history. Official team materials also list 2008 as the franchise’s first season.
