Timothy Treadwell was an American bear enthusiast, environmentalist, and documentary filmmaker who spent 13 summers living among the wild grizzly bears in Katmai National Park & Preserve, Alaska. Timothy Treadwell believed he had formed a special bond with the bears and aimed to protect them from poachers while raising awareness about their habitat through his footage.
However, his approach to interacting with wild animals was controversial. In 2003, at the age of 46, Timothy Treadwell and his girlfriend, Amie Huguenard, were tragically killed and partially eaten by a grizzly bear. His life and death were chronicled in Werner Herzog’s documentary “Grizzly Man.”
